Headington School Masterplan

The Practice was appointed to develop a masterplan for Headington School based on three main criteria;

  1. To improve the quality of all aspects of the teaching and boarding environments.
  2. To develop those areas of school that have not kept pace with historical increases in pupil numbers.
  3. To identify opportunities for further integration into the local community’s educational, cultural and economic development plans.

The masterplan was taken through two phases of public consultation and included; a Conservation Area Appraisal, Travel plans, Ecological Assessment, Traffic assessment and a Landscape Strategy document.

The project involved carrying out extensive discussions with Planning and Conservation Officers to ensure that the development matched their requirements and responded to the sensitive nature of the site.  This resulted in support and approval from Oxfordshire City Council.

The adopted masterplan ensures a smooth passage through to planning permission for subsequent developments.

This was demonstrated by the successful application for improved sports facilities in 2014.
