Gipsy Lane, Oxford Brookes University

The Gipsy Lane Masterplan is an example of an exemplar planning process and delivery, undertaken in consultation and engagement with local amenity groups, local authorities and the residents of Oxford.

The Masterplan facilitated the complete transformation of the Gipsy Lane site; creating a new Educational Quarter with a piazza which became the new gateway to Oxford City Centre from Headington and the East.

Following the principals of the Masterplan, the Winchester based Architecture firm Design Engine, went on to create an award winning flagship building for the University. Images on this page, courtesy of Design Engine.

In October 2015 the Practice won the RTPI South East Award for Planning Excellence in Masterplanning and Design for this scheme.  This award success is the result of 10 years of working with Oxford Brookes in devising a long-term vision for the Headington Campus.
